About the Author
Barry Drake is best known as a "radio guy," although he served as CEO of a sixty-two-station television group as well. He has been on the programming and production side of the radio business, sold locally in markets large and small, sold nationally, and managed stations in all formats, sizes, and market conditions. In 1984, Drake joined Keymarket Communications as general manager, first in Baton Rouge and then in Houston, before being named president of the group in 1988. Keymarket was sold to River City Broadcasting in 1995, and in 1996, River City was purchased by Sinclair Broadcast Group, where Drake was named CEO of radio and then CEO of television in 1999. He is no stranger to the finance side of the industry, having years of experience working with equity sponsors, the public market, and lenders to structure companies and deals. In 2002, Drake formed Backyard Broadcasting with private equity sponsor Boston Ventures. The group grew to thirty radio stations in six markets, then was sold in 2013. During his career, Drake stayed close to the action by committing himself to making sales calls, some with sales people, others on his own. He has called on a wide range of businesses: chains with billions of dollars in volume as well as single-location retailers grossing less than $1 million annually. It's thoughtful, articulate, and filled with common-sense ideas, all informed by a lifetime of experience on the street and in the boardroom. A must-read for anyone entering the media sales game.

Barry Drake is a real-life, hands-on owner broadcaster story unlike myriad owners of radio and TV who are mostly accountants, investors and large groups headed by boards of directors who mostly have never been out there in the exciting world of media marketing helping local-direct businesses grow and hire employees. I absolutely loved this book

I absolutely loved this book...and not just because the author is my father! Growing up, people always asked me what my dad did for a living. I would simply say, "He's in radio." I kept it short and sweet because I honestly didn't know what he did on a daily basis. Well, this book explains it all and then some. It is inspiring and insightful and I plan on using the principles of selling he discusses in my own life. My dad has always loved radio and I am so glad he could share his joy and passion with the world.

This is another example of the good writing that Cerise does. I am amazed at how quickly she writes!

In this book - Karla is getting ready to go out with her boyfriend when Step-Daddy decides that she has to stay in and watch her brother. She tells her boyfriend that they will have to wait for another time but he decides to come over and pop her cherry at her home. But the brother decides to call Daddy. Daddy catches Karla giving a BJ and chases the boyfriend out. Then Daddy decides to give her what she wanted...but Daddy doesn't realize that she was a virgin!

For the uninitiated, Hannah Hart began her rise to kitchen stardom with the famously slurred words, “Hello, welcome to my drunk kitchen.” We learned—while things were being dropped, burnt, and forgotten—how to make grilled cheese. But not just grilled cheese: grilled cheese with humor, fun, and entertainment.

Since then, Hannah has attracted millions of viewers, partnered with drunk celebrities, and raised money for charity. Now she has a book.

The question is, does the same fun cross over into book form? Yes! A thousand times yes. The book has lots of off-shoot narratives written by Hannah about the joys of friendship and having fun, all organized in neat categories around her food creations. There are tons and tons of full-color pictures with it all, plus cute comedic drawings and quotes. Every idea is followed by one of Hannah’s Life Lessons.

For instance, one “recipe” in this book is Hannah’s Pizzadilla. Ingredients are: tortillas, marinara sauce, cheese, and “tissues for everyone who starts to cry tears of joy when you bring this out to serve.” The instructions basically say “cook until edible” in the oven, and there are five pictures of Hannah cooking this stove-top. You’ll get the idea of how it blends together, and maybe you’ll try it, maybe you’ll come up with something different, but ultimately you’ll laugh and enjoy the experience. (Hint: this is a great book to flip through with a friend next to you.)

Sometimes Hannah advocates getting frozen snacks from Trader Joe’s, sometimes you won’t even know what she’s mixing together (such as the one where she’s supposedly ‘high’), and other times it is pretty cut and dry with what you have on hand. Every list of ingredients starts with Words of Wisdom and a suggested opening cocktail.

Here’s a quote from Hannah, “Pro Tip: To learn more about things, read books or use the Internet.” Okay, maybe you had to be there. Okay, maybe I should start a thing where I review books while drunk. Or not. We’ll see.

Bottom line: go into this having fun. You may learn some handy kitchen ideas (I sure did..yum, yum!), but you’ll definitely walk away smiling.

Fantastic book!

As an unashamedly obsessive fan of Hannah Hart since the early days of her YouTube series “My Drunk Kitchen”, words can not express how much I enjoyed this book!! I scheduled myself to work from home on the release day so I could be sure to be at my door when it arrived in the mail. I cracked it open to read the intro & ended up taking a long lunch break as I couldn’t help but read it cover to cover. If you enjoy Hannah’s videos, you’ll love this book! It’s a wonderful mix of humor, thought-provoking food analogies, and even some insights into Hannah’s own life.

As a 23-year old human, I also find the book fantastic! I laughed out loud every other page and was prompted to thinking about a lot of things, including but not limited to: compassion, adulthood, insecurities, family, and love. I’m setting this book on the coffee table in my living room, and I already know that picking it up and flipping to a random recipe will be my new go to pick-me-up when I’m having a rough day. It’s just that delightful.

And a final note about the content: There are 4 different sections that each lead with a brief parody self-help essay, and the bulk of the book is recipes. The recipes each start with a quote and end with a life lesson. The recipes themselves are all over the place. A handful of them are obviously more metaphorical than intended for actual implementation, some look absolutely delicious, and the majority seem to fall between those two extremes. All are quirky & funny & surprisingly uplifting.

This book is - well.. it is everything I hoped for. As a long-time Hannah Hart fan (check out her youtube page youtube.com/harto) I can say that this book is truly a representation of Hart's comedy and genuine personality. Highly recommend this book.

About the Author

Robert Hogan was previously an Associate Professor in the School of Education at the University of the South Pacific. His areas of research include science education and e-learning. His most recent research was a $100,000 grant supported by the World Health Organization to develop a blended and mobile learning chemistry course for the Pacific. Previously, Bob was Associate Vice President at Florence Darlington Technical College where he developed the online campus and wrote and received a $450,000 FIPSE grant to develop online partnerships among eight colleges in France, Germany, Spain, the United States and England. Dr. Hogan received his M.S. from New York University in physical oceanography and his doctorate from the University of Central Florida in science education. Bob has also worked as a systems engineer for Lockheed Martin and a science editor for Harcourt Brace. He has a large number of publications in the field of distance learning and loves to scuba dive.

Very cute Tsum Tsum Disney Designs – printed both sides of the page

The designs in this coloring book are very cute and represent a number of the Disney Tsum Tsum designs. I would have liked more characters as after 124 of the same twelve or so, it became somewhat repetitive.

The designs span from detailed to very simple. There are many wall-paper (repeating pattern) designs and there are really nice character studies. The designs range from simple line drawings to those where there are heavy lines and heavy use of black. Most of the designs have a bit of a wild background.

The book is part of the “Art of Coloring” series and has changed format in a number of ways from the earlier books in this series. This book has a soft cover, is smaller, has thinner paper, has glue binding and has perforated pages. A nice change is that the designs are limited to one page (no two-page spreads.)

The book is sized smaller at 10 7.8 x 7 inches (compared to approximately 11 1 /2 x 8 inches. For those who like to scan and print their pages on better paper, this will make it easier as it should work with most standard scanner/printers.

The soft cover is okay but I would have hoped for a better value on the book if the quality of the publishing was being diminished. That is also true of the paper. This books has medium weight paper (compared to the heavy weight of the earlier books.)

This is what I found while coloring in the book and testing my color medium on the paper.

Glue binding

Many designs extend across the perforations, some into the binding. The book can be opened fairly flat by breaking the spine.

Alcohol-based markers bleed through the paper

Water-based markers leave colorful shadows on the back of the page and can bleed through in spots.

Gel pens and India ink pens left anywhere from colorful shadows to indistinct shadows on the back of the page but even at best, where still noticeable.

Colored pencils worked well with this paper. I was able to get good, deep pigment. I could layer easily using both the same color and multiple colors. Blending was okay though the tooth of the paper was not optimal (a little smeary). I was able to blend with a pencil style blending stick.

Great colouring book for all ages!

While the designs in this book are about Tsum Tsums, there are some pages that are surprisingly "intricate" (examples in attached photos). The paper is not too thin and not as thick as a cardstock. Every page is perforated really close to the binding. You can rip individual pages out, but be careful! The perforation is hidden pretty well. One main con about this book is that the pages are double sided (unless that doesn't matter to you). So if there is any bleedthrough it'll show on the other design. Moving on to the medias that can be used. I've tested watercolours, alcohol markers and COPIC markers, fineliners, Pilot Frixion markers and highlighters, and water based markers. Most alcohol/COPIC markers WILL bleed through. Everything else that I listed will work fine as long as you don't oversaturate the paper. Which brings me to the next thing, paper pilling. As with any water based markers, the paper will start pilling (coming off in little chunks) if you keep colouring over the same area. Eventually, this will tear the paper. Next up, some minimal watercolours are fine. The paper will not warp much so long as you are brushing very little water on it. Thus being said, watercolours cannot be layered on this paper without some negative consequences. If you are using watercolour coloured pencils, however, you should be mostly fine. Overall, I'd say this book is well worth the price and is a great buy.

- designs aren't too extreme nor too simple (i.e., the designs are rather time-consuming and not basic geometric shapes blobbed together)
- handles most colouring media pretty well

Cons:
- designs are printed on both sides
- heavy to oversaturation will cause bleedthrough
- water based markers will pill the paper over time
- might be hard to find the perforation which could cause pages to rip incorrectly if you are trying to remove a page

I might update this review over time if I decide to use more/different media or a numerous amount of various brand names. I mainly used Prismacolor, COPIC. BIC, Pilot, Staedtler, Crayola, and Kuretake to test out my first impression.

So cute! I collect tsums tsums, and this coloring book is a nice addition. The pictures are not as detailed as some of the other Disney coloring books, but that's more than okay with me! There are lots of images to color, and includes the tsums that are most loved, as well as some that are less well known. It's fun!

The Virus Maker

The Virus Maker is the fourth and final book in James Cox's ManLove at the End of the World series. It easily works as a stand-alone. I have not read the other books in the series and I still enjoyed Colton, Jace, and Mitch's tale. I do think having read the other books I would know more about what happened from the moment people started getting sick to the point Colton walks outside and realizes something has happened, but this did not distract from the story.

Colton and Mitch are working on a cure for one deadly disease when everything that could possibly go wrong does just that. The immediate events that follow forever changes the two men and the world as we know it. Mitch believes Colton to be dead. Colton is trying to hide what has happened to him while searching for Mitch. Jace is just looking to get laid while surviving.

Jace provided a humorous side to this sexed up little novella. He is a shameless horny flirt. He is a hungry horny sexy man looking for someone to enjoy. He's constant flirting is highly entertaining. Colton's reactions to Jace's very forward advances are amusing. Jace, Mitch, and Colton together enjoying the pleasures they have to offer each other is ridiculously hot.

Not what I was expecting. Thought there would be a little more of story/plot and answers. But nope. Disappointed. This was just not a book for me. Might try other books by this author though. 2 stars :(
