I can see why this book is so highly rated. Amazing research and writing style. J. E. Beale remains one of the best. Snuggle in with book and be tranported back to 16th century England. It's that good.

Test of TIme

A very elegant account of this subject,and well worth having beside Lytton Strachey's flamboyant account
of Elizabeth and Essex. I don't know the field well, but it seems to have stood the test of time.
